Learn about job comments

You can use the Job Comments section of the Job Details page to view and record information about a job. For example, you may want to add a comment:

  • When you are unable to continue with a job because a document is missing.
  • To record the steps you have taken to obtain the information and note any follow up action taken.
  • To record details of phone conversations you had with a client about a job.
  • To describe the outcome of a client interview.
  • To provide instructions on how the client's coding should be done.

You can enable an automated e-mail alert to enhance communication about jobs in your firm. Whenever a comment is entered and saved, an e-mail will be sent to the job owner of the job and all staff members who have worked on the job or are assigned to work on it. This includes users who have only made job comments, and users who have added time to a job but were not allocated to it. The e-mail will not be sent to the user who is adding the comment, as they already know about the comment.

Add jobs in bulk
You can bulk-create any type of job and use the range of filters to select which clients the jobs will be created for. You can narrow the list of bulk-created jobs to specific fields, for example client type, or any dynamic fields you created in Contacts.
Import WIP
To import your WIP records into CCH iFirm, you need to prepare a .csv file using the template provided in CCH iFirm. If you have several jobs on the go for a client, you can import the total WIP as a lump sum in one .csv file, and then use the WIP transfer feature in CCH iFirm to create the individual jobs. Alternatively, you can import the individual jobs but this requires multiple .csv files.

Transfer WIP within a job
You can access the WIP Transfer feature from the Job Details page, Work in Progress Centre or the Work In Progress Client Breakdown Report. There are three methods of WIP transfer to choose from.
Jobs - WIP Control
The widget displays the same data as the WIP Control Report. The data is for the month. The period for the data works like the default period for the report, with the previous month showing until the 6th day of the month, but from there on it is the current month.
