Software enhancements

New Configuration Key - PM_IncludeDescriptionCheckDuplicateReceipt

Duplicate receipt checking within Practice Management has been enhanced to provide greater flexibility when entering or importing receipts.  This enhancement applies to the following areas:

  • Sales Ledger Receipt entry
  • CSV Import
  • Twinfield - automatic receipt synchronisation
  • Twinfield Bank Import

Previously, when the configuration key PM_CheckDuplicateReceipt was set to 1, the system prevented users from entering or importing receipts that shared the same:

  • Client code
  • Receipt date
  • Receipt value

These were treated as duplicate receipts, regardless of any other differences.

A new configuration key has been introduced:

  • PM_IncludeDescriptionCheckDuplicateReceipt (default value: 0)

This key works in conjunction with the existing PM_CheckDuplicateReceipt configuration key to refine duplicate validation behaviour.

Existing Behaviour (No Change)

  • PM_CheckDuplicateReceipt = 1
  • PM_IncludeDescriptionCheckDuplicateReceipt = 0

➡ The system continues to treat receipts as duplicates if they share the same client code, date, and value.
➡ The description field is not considered.

Description Included in Validation

  • PM_CheckDuplicateReceipt = 1
  • PM_IncludeDescriptionCheckDuplicateReceipt = 1

➡ Receipts with the same client code, date, and value are allowed if the description differs.
➡ Duplicate validation now includes the description field as part of the uniqueness check.

The Receipt behaviour applies to the standard sales ledger receipts and the importing of .csv file and Twinfield receipts (either via automatic sync or from the Twinfield Bank Import)

Note: The PM_IncludeDescriptionCheckDuplicateReceipt configuration key is currently not supported for Multicurrency sites.

WIP Enquiry - New show all transactions

A new checkbox, Show all transactions, has been added to the WIP Enquiry screen.  This option is selected by default, displaying all transactions on entry.

  • When selected,  all WIP transactions are shown.
    • Existing filters remain available, including:
      • Chargeable / Non-chargeable
      • Include/exclude billed transactions
      • Include child WIP
  • When a date is entered in Show transactions after, the Show all transactions checkbox is automatically cleared and only transactions after the selected date are displayed.
  • When Show all transactions is re-selected, any date entered in Show transactions after date is cleared, and the full transaction list is shown again.

Quality improvements

Billing > Search for Company

Previously, searching for a Company would fail if the company name exceeded 50 characters.  In these cases, the following error message was displayed:

“Central has encountered an error trying to process your search. If this problem persists, please contact your support department.”

The maximum length for company names has been increased from 50 to 100 characters.  This now aligns with the database limit.

ITS 68475 - Smart Reports - Aged Debt Report fails with string or binary truncated error

Some firms encountered the following error:  “String or binary data would be truncated”  This occurred when running the Aged Debt Report, where Office Notes content exceeded 500 characters.
